Where can I park my car when at York theatre?
Great food and service for my first visit to this place. Good portions and decent prices. Definitely will come back when I'm craving Italian food.
MoreWe came specifically to try their lobster pasta but we didn’t know it wasn’t on the menu anymore but that is ok. The squid appetizer was so tender. Too bad it was only 4 pieces. The lasagna was delicious and filling. The tiramisu was very delicious. Perfect way to end the night. Staff was super friendly and came by several times to see how everything was going.
MoreTHEY CARE! - I love how they kept the traditional decor of the original, Nick’s Speghetti House. Paula (our server) was amazing! Very thoughtful and a great personality. She even gave my wife a free dessert for her birthday. As an old customer of Nicks, I approached Pepinos with skepticism.. but left very happy! Thanks primarily to Paula and team. You made my wife’s birthday very special.I know the prices have increased significantly, but I felt they were justified by solid portion sizes, quality ingredients, ambience and awesome service. I’ve read other reviews stating that the portions were small.. I was happy to be proven otherwise. My only feedback would be to feature one cheap(ish) wine & beer option. If you’re trying to run an authentic “old school-ish” Italian joint.. it’s almost criminal to not feature a cheap booze option.
MoreEnjoyed a nice dinner here after a late night at work. Despite the later time in the evening, the cozy venue was still packed. The staff is friendly and made an effort to acknowledge every guest. We started with a tasty house avocado salad which came with chopped kale and cabbage, feta cheese, dried cherries dressed with a vinagarette. For the main we had the linguine with clams and the chicken picatta. It would have been nice to have fresh house made pasta but it apparently it was easier to source from elsewhere. The clams were a larger size so were quite juicy. The half chicken was nicely prepared. The wine selection was good.
MoreBrought my family here for dinner. The service was really good. The restaurant was not overly busy. The table cloth is a cheap checkered plastic. Kind of a cheap feel for an upscale restaurant. We like that the menu is made for family sharing. The salad we got was very interested. My wife and myself really enjoyed it. It has beets and avocado in it. I would recommended it. The pasta were very well cooked. They had the proper bite, not too over cooked or under. The Pork Chop Parm I was not a big fan off. I found it too fatty and the breading was kind of soggy. The steak was also ok don't think it was Alberta AAA beef. The rest of the dishes were really good. If I came here again I would only get the salad, chicken and the pastas.
MoreThe staples or the specials they have are all fantastic. Best tiramisu
First time at Pepino's. We didn't make a reservation but they were able to get us a table on a Friday night! The service was incredible. They are very friendly and attentive. We got the oyster Rockefeller to start, spaghetti bolognese and fettuccine alfredo. All was very tasty and fresh. Cant wait to go back and try some more dishes. The space was super cozy and really didn't feel like it was in Vancouver!
MoreGreat restaurant. It can fill up fast, so reservations are recommended. We tried the fixed price menu and it was a great way to try a little of everything. Given what you get, the $45/person charge is quite good. Wasn't disappointed with any of the items. Pasta was a highlight. Definitely a place you want to take the family or that special someone.
MoreThis was our first visit. We ordered rigatoni vodka, lasagna, pizza, and tiramisu. We enjoyed the pasta but service wasn’t so great with our pizza. We were asked which sauce we wanted with our pizza, only to find out it was $2/sauce (at a promo price, according to manager it is usually $4/sauce) on the bill. We only had one dip on both sauces since they weren’t great either. We were not told they’d be extra charge beforehand and ended up paying anyway. Manager wasn’t willing to waive the $4 on a $120 bill due to “covid”, you just lost 3 potential loyal customers. Do not recommend Pepinos’ pizza or sauces, nightingale or per se social corner is a better option with better service.
MoreGreat service. Friendly and helpful servers. Food was good. Fresh pasta.
Honestly never leave reviews, but this was the worst restaurant experience for my girlfriend and I in vancouver. Not sure if it was off night for them butordered the Humboldt squid-okay flavour, squid tasted previously frozenGarlic cheese bread-tasted great, bread was not soft more burnt=hard to eat. Rigatoni alla vodka-pasta sauce lacked flavour, and the pasta lacked sauce, noodles were cooked fine. Pork Chop parmesan for 2-it was okay, pork had too much fat on it. The crust on the pork chop was soggy rather than crispy. Staff was friendly and assertive but i've honestly had better pasta at Olive Garden (which says a lot) and i've had better chicken parmesan from the Joeys' chain or resterauntsSave yourself the time and money and go somewhere else for Italian Food, there are much better alternatives for the price within the city.
MoreOrdered the tortellini it was really good but I only got 8 pieces. 8 pieces for $23 is pretty outrageous!
MoreThis is the newly opened Pepino’s Spaghetti House where the beloved Nick’s Spaghetti House used to be. Great food and atmosphere! The staff was super friendly and the place was packed. We didn’t have reservations but we eat super early anyway. Don’t expect to get seat without reservations during prime dinner time. The calamari is excellent especially if you love calamari like I do.
MoreGreat food and friendly staff. Quantities are huge so keep that in mind when you order. The tiramisu was great but not exactly "best in Vancouver" as said by some but top 3 for sure. Staff is super friendly. 4 stars because some items on the menu were slightly pricier for what they are. Some a la carte items could come with other stuff to make their price justifiable.
MoreLoved the place and the customer service! It’s spotless, I felt like I’m outside of Vancouver the moment that I walked in.Drinks are very tasty and the appetizers are awesome! I would recommend the Caesar Salad.1 reason that I took out one of the stars is for the pasta, it was horribly salty! Omg I love salty food but this pasta was just something else! So much salt in the food that I had to stop and drink so much water in order to be able to continue! Then I asked for mushrooms so maybe it will take a bit of salt into it, not only they charged me $3 for mushrooms but the mushrooms were salty too!So will definitely recommend to try but I will make sure for my next visit I will ask them to not put that much salt in my food!
MoreAmazing service and food ! Dine out menu was amazing, simple and delicious. Not overly complicated , good portion . Our server...(I am sorry I forget her name), was so friendly and funny. Will definitely come back .
MoreWent with Door Dash for Pepinos after reading all the great reviews. Are you people nuts?! The lasagne was burnt black, the Alfredo was over salted and the sauce separated and the cheesy bread was pure grease. Be warned. That being said I did speak to Pepinos and while the person who answered the phone offered a gift card, the manager said no you'll have to call Door Dash for a refund . This has to be the worst food and 'service'. I'm at least refunded by Door Dash, I highly doubt the 'Manager' would have done anything.
MoreThis spot is the one I like best. I go to plenty of restaurants but to this restaurant I keep coming back again and again. The team is very attentive and the food they offer is so yummy. I am always happy to have a nice dinner in this place. I highly recommend this place.
MoreGreat food and service. We ended up moving tables mid meal to accommodate a family of 4 people who originally agreed to sit at separate tables. Because the family asked us to move, the manager had complementary wine sent to our table. A nice surprise! The meal was fabulous even without the wine! I would return.
MoreGreat ambiance, great décor, a hidden gem. Quite surprising given it doesn't even look open from the outside. Food was well plated, well portioned and delicious. Will definitely come back. Highly recommended.
MoreA little more modern than Nick’s but still holds on to much of the classic ambiance. Delicious food on a small but classic Italian menu. Cocktail was great and so were the ‘sausage-wrapped-olives” appetiser. Had the Hangar Steak and Gnocchi in a delicious wild mushroom cream sauce. Came hungry and left satisfied. Will return!
MoreVisited for dine out. Usual limited menu for dine out. Some of the best meatballs in town. Delicious chocolate hazelnut pudding! Would highly recommend. Service was very efficient if a little terse.
MoreServers are always helpful and friendly and the food is delicious 100% of the time! Super sad the prix fixe menu is gone 😭
MoreA solid 3.5 stars. Some things that stood out: Service was excellent, the room was really loud, the pasta was overall on the salty side, and the chicken was a bit dry. The bocconcini salad was really good but on the pricy side.
Morethis restaurant on commercial drive provides quality pasta dishes, a very welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff.. we attended a concert at the York Theatre and just walked a few steps for our evening treat..one looks north on commercial street to enjoy a delightful view of the Vancouver night scene.. it is a hidden gem and we will be back
MoreFood was good and the servers are awesome, despite the delay between the courses. But I was honestly expecting more considering the price range. It is extremely crowded and loud. My partner and I could barely communicate, unless we were also super loud. Tables are too close to each other, making it uncomfortable to get around. I understand it is a small place, but they could rethink their layout and the number of seats in order to improve the customer's experience.
MoreHello comfort food! Pepino’s is a charming blast from the past with exceptional food and friendly service in a casual environment. The pasta was perfectly Al dente and the flavours rich and delicious. The Pepino’s Caesar salad uses a vinaigrette based dressing which is wonderful and anyone who is an anchovy lover will enjoy this dish. The tiramisu is outstanding and in my top 5 for the city.
MoreA great place to eat at. Had the dinner for two that allowed my fiance and I to try out multiple dishes and not over eat or spend way too much. The server we had was great as she answered all my questions and was prompt with our food
MoreOrdered the meal for 2 last night for my wife's bday....It was awesome, you folks really know how to take care of customers. They gave me an extra cake for her special day.....To the team at Pepino's, keep doing what your doing ...putting smiles on peoples faces and putting into heavenly food comas! We will be back either ordering take out or eating in!
MoreThis place is certainly one of the most attractive place in the neighborhood. Always when I come to this place I am highly happy. They maintain their very high standard service and the highest level of food they give. You can never go wrong with this restaurant. Highly recommended.
MoreVery neat and welcoming restaurant. They provide large portions and for reasonable prices. I enjoyed the menu very much and the waiters were super affable and informative. Highly recommended.
MoreAmazingly tasty, best in the city that I’ve had so far!
Made me feel like I'm in a New York restaurant. I enjoyed a drink at their entrance waiting area which I thought was a neat way to allow guests to enjoy themselves while waiting to be seated. The 'Big Anthony' and Chicken Piccata were great and the service was very friendly and intimate. The place itself has retained some of its history if you look around but that just adds to the whole experience.
